Uasin Gishu Residents Urged to Prepare for Digital ID Registration
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr. Edison Nyale has stated that the government's planned issuance of third-generation identification cards is aimed at creating a digital document containing comprehensive individual data for easy reference. He emphasized that as the world embraces the digital age, Kenya must also move forward.
Dr. Nyale encouraged residents to participate in large numbers when the new digital IDs are rolled out. He also announced the government's forthcoming launch of a rapid result initiative (RRI) for passport issuance, assuring citizens that efforts are underway to expedite the passport issuance process.
He advised those who have received messages indicating that their passports have been dispatched to regional and sub-regional Immigration offices to collect them promptly. Additionally, individuals who cannot visit these offices have the option to report to their respective sub-county offices, where Immigration Department officers will deliver the passports during the RRI.
The RRI initiative was introduced by the government in response to an audit revealing that a significant number of printed passports delivered to regional and sub-regional offices had not been collected by their owners.
