Thousands of Britons and leaders from across the world are expected to flock to Westminster Abbey to bid a final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.

Her burial will take place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom on Monday.

Kenyans on Sunday joined the rest of the world in commemorating the life and times of Queen Elizabeth II in requiem mass at All Saints Cathedral.

Although the death of the Britain’s longest-reigning monarch was anticipated and well planned for years, her death still surprised many because it marks the end to an era.

During the mass, Kenyans and British citizens in Kenya remembered the queen for her servitude character where, despite her position in the royal family she join the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), a women’s arm of the British Army during the second world war to train as a mechanic and driver.

UK High Commissioner Jane Marriot, during her speech described the Queen’s death as a sad moment of sadness for both UK and common wealth states where Kenya is a member.

According to Marriot, the Queen while on the throne made three visits to Kenya which helped strengthen the relationship between Kenya and UK.

The Queen’s funeral service will take place in the same place, 69 years ago, the Queen was crowned and where, 75 years ago, she was married to her husband, Prince Philip who died last year.

The Queen’s body will be carried on the same gun carriage used for the funeral of her father, King George VI, and Winston Churchill, from Westminster Hall to the abbey.

The service will be presided over by Rev. David Hoyle, the Dean of Westminster.

The Queen’s last appointed UK minister Liz Truss will read lessons at the service and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will deliver a sermon.

The day will be characterized by a display of centuries-old ritual i.e. guards in braided uniforms, kilted bagpipers and drummers.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto alongside her wife, the first lady Rachel Ruto on Sunday travelled to UK fo the funeral of the Queen.
