Gachagua Accuses State Of Fueling Violence

BY BARAKA SIMBA
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has today accused the state of fueling violence during recent protests witnessed in the country, alleging the use of government-backed militias and rogue officers to target civilians.
Speaking at his Karen residence in Nairobi, Gachagua claimed that specific regions, particularly Mount Kenya, were intentionally targeted because of their current political stance against President William Ruto's administration.
"These state-sponsored militias, under instructions and guidance from the police, were dropped in different places in the country, mostly in the Mount Kenya region and other areas not seen as friendly to the government," said Gachagua.
He further alleged that a covert killer squad, posing as police officers, carried out extrajudicial killings under the direction of senior state officials.
"A killer squad, disguising themselves as DCI officers, working under Noordin Haji, was armed with assault rifles and drove in a convoy of unmarked Subaru vehicles, shooting and killing innocent protesters aimlessly in the streets and estates," he claimed.
On the deadly Saba Saba protests, Gachagua accused the state of organizing violence to scapegoat a specific ethnic group.
