Ruto Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Plot To Oust Him

BY BARAKA SIMBA
President William Ruto has warned of firm legal action against individuals he claims are plotting to remove him from office through unconstitutional means, saying his administration will not allow efforts to destabilize the country.
Speaking on Thursday during the commissioning of affordable police housing units in Kilimani, Nairobi, Ruto accused opposition political leaders of sponsoring unrest and using street protests to derail government programs.
"I hear they say they want to use unconstitutional methods to remove me from office before 2027. I want to dare them; they will see the full force of the law," said the president.
He emphasized that Kenya is a democratic state, and leadership must be decided through elections.
"This is a democratic nation, and Kenyans will decide the leadership of this country through the ballot. We cannot change the regime through violence. That is not going to happen in this country," he added.
Ruto alleged that recent demonstrations have caused destruction of property worth millions, claiming the goal is to disrupt national stability and progress.
Taking a hardline position, the president directed security officers to act decisively against violent protestors, reportedly stating that police should "shoot them in the foot" to immobilize anyone caught vandalizing or destroying property.
