Their effort is to encourage parents to enroll their special-needs children in school, promoting dignity and independence.
The group recently visited Kitale's St. Columbus School for the Deaf and distributed vital items such as food, soap, basins, uniforms, and feminine hygiene products. During their tour, the leaders emphasized the crucial need to end stigma and abuse against children with disabilities.
The recently enacted Persons with Disabilities Bill 2025 is a landmark piece of legislation designed to protect the rights and dignity of Kenyans with disabilities by promoting equality, non-discrimination, and increased accessibility in areas such as education, employment, and healthcare.
The women directors' timely visit demonstrates a proactive effort to ensure that the spirit of the new law is converted into concrete support at the grassroots level.
The headteacher of St. Columbus School for the Deaf expressed heartfelt gratitude for the prompt assistance, emphasizing the positive influence on the children' well-being and learning environment.
