President Uhuru Kenyatta, during the 58th Jamhuri celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, announced that plans to reduce electricity costs are underway and will be implemented by the end of March 2022.
The President said the plan will be implemented in two tranches of 15% each with the first tranche ending in December.
The President further directed the Ministry of Energy to do a quick follow-up on the implementation of the recommendation of the Presidential Task Force on Power Purchase Agreements.
President Uhuru Kenyatta further called on the IPPs to demonstrate goodwill as the government seeks to make the energy sector a greater catalyst in national development.
