Deputy IG Eliud Lagat Expected to Resume Duties

Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat is set to resume office weeks after voluntarily stepping aside to allow investigations into the death of teacher-blogger Albert Omondi Ojwang.
This development follows a High Court decision which declined to issue interim orders prohibiting Lagat from resuming his duties, despite an ongoing legal challenge initiated by activist Eliud Matindi.
High Court Judge Justice Chacha Mwita urged Lagat to file his official answer to the suit by July 23, allowing the case to go through the appropriate legal procedures.
Matindi had filed a court petition to prevent Lagat's return to office, citing issues that have yet to be publicly disclosed.
Inspector General Douglas Kanja has since confirmed that Lagat was found not culpable and is expected to resume his duties.
