Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has reconsidered his decision to attend the Azimio-One Kenya running mate interview panel.

According to ODM Campaign Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo, Kalonzo is set to meet the Noah Wekesa-led panel of 7 members on Tuesday, May 10.

The Wiper leader had earlier insisted that he will not appear for the interview adding that, he is an automatic option to deputize Raila Odinga and appearing before the panel will humiliate him.

“I want to tell all Kenyans that I will not attend the said process, I find the entire thing demeaning,” he said.

The interviews for Raila’s suitable running mate have enters day two on Tuesday with five candidates expected before the panel.

The panel had shortlisted 20 applicants for the interview among them Peter Kenneth (Jubilee Party), Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, deputy ODM leader Wycliffe Oparanya, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, Gideon Moi (KANU) Ali Hassan Joho (ODM), Stephen Tarus (National Liberal Party), Musyoka, Sabina Chege (Jubilee Party), Martha Karua (NARC Kenya), Charity Ngilu (NARC).

Kalonzo says, he is fit for the position because he has worked with Raila before in 2013 under the CORD Coalition and in 2017 under the National Super Alliance (NASA) hence anything below the position will be demeaning.

Kalonzo’s running mate bid was endorsed by his party members and KANU party leader, Gideon Moi who withdrew his candidature for the position.

“Our national Chairman Gideon Moi was shortlisted to appear before the panel. We have received instructions that he will not be appearing before this panel because he had written a letter where they had endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka,”party secretary told journalists.

The candidates to appear before the panel today include; Narc Leader Charity Ngilu, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, and former Kenyan Ambassador to Australia Stephen Tarus.

The Wiper leader has threatened to defect to Ruto’s led Kenya kwanza Alliance if ODM party leader does not consider him.

“If I am not picked, it’s obvious that all the votes due unto me may troop to Ruto’s direction.

Kalonzo further stated that those opposing his bid are sabotaging Raila’s presidential bid in the coming August 9th general elections.

The panel is expected to submit the name of a candidate they will settle for to ODM party leader Raila Odinga who will thereafter announce to the public.
