World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23rd March to commemorate the coming into force on 23rd  March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization.

It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world.

The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues.

This year’s theme is:  The Future of Weather, Climate and Water across Generations

The Meteorological department gives us accurate daily weather forecasts which enables us to plan for the day by choosing what would be appropriate to wear.

They track climate change and warm us about natural disasters.

Every year, World Meteorological Day shows what the WMO has done in the past, what it is doing now, and what it could do in the future to help people.

On World Meteorological Day in 2023, the World Meteorological Organization will be 150 years old.

According to WMO, the anniversary is a good way to remember that our climate is changing.
