President Ruto Advocates For SHA Registration
President William Ruto on Sunday strongly urged Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Speaking during a church service in Khwisero, Kakamega, President Ruto reaffirmed that the unwanted healthcare program will help the government streamline healthcare services across the country.
The Head of State claimed that since the government would be providing for the vulnerable and poverty-stricken citizens, the program would enable Kenyans to fairly obtain medical treatment.
The president added that by registering, the government will be able to gather vital information that will aid in allocating medical supplies and personnel in proportion to the local population.
Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Deborah Barasa supported Ruto's views, praising the program's effectiveness and pointing out that it is already benefiting a large number of Kenyans.
The newly established entity is tasked with pooling all contributions made under the Social Health Insurance Act. The SHA will purchase healthcare services from empaneled and contracted healthcare providers, ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services to beneficiaries.
One of its key responsibilities is to receive contributions for needy, vulnerable persons, and individuals under lawful custody. This move aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for marginalized groups in the country.
