The 95th Academy Awards ceremony (Oscars) was held yesterday 12th March, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The event hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, was held to honour films released in 2022.
“Everything” was everywhere having won 7 awards. Everything Everywhere All At Once won best picture and best editing. Among other nominees for best picture were, Top Gun: Maverick, Women Talking, Elvis and Avatar: The Way of Water.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert both won best director for Everything Everywhere, while Michelle Yeoh won best actress.
Jamie Lee Curtis stirred up a bit of controversy after winning best supporting actress for her role in Everything Everywhere, beating Angela Bassett for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Bassett is the first actor to be nominated for a role in a Marvel movie.
Everything Everywhere also won the award for best original screenplay.
Brendan Fraser took home the best actor for his role in The Whale. Even though they did not get the more anticipated award for Angela Bassett, Wakanda Forever won best costume design. Avatar: The Way of Water deservingly won best visual effects.
Academy Awards/Oscars are awarded for artistic and technical merit for the global film industry. The awards are regarded by many as the most prestigious, significant awards in the entertainment industry in the United States
