Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential running mate Martha Karua has defended her resignation during Kibaki’s government.

Karua says she resigned as the Minister of Justice, National Cohesion & Constitutional Affairs due to frustrations from Kibaki’s government in discharging her duties.

According to previous media publications, President Kibaki appointed Judges without Karua’s knowledge a few days before she resigned, which is regarded as part of the frustrations.

The Iron lady, speaking during the DP presidential debate, on Tuesday stated that her resignation was in line with her principles and that she was not hostile to her boss, further citing the Uhuruto government where the president and his deputy have differed publicly.

This came after her Kenya Kwanza alliance counterpart Rigathi Gachagua accused her of being untrustworthy during the late former president Kibaki’s regime.

Ruto’s presidential running mate claimed that Karua resigned at a crucial time when the government needed her which is an alert to whether she can be patient in the office and fight for Kenyans.

Gachagua in his accusations said Kibaki was a gentleman in politics meaning anybody could work under him and if Karua was unable to then she will not be able to work under Odinga who he says was on Kibaki’s case.

Karua further in her defense said that she no longer believed in Kibaki’s government and the best decision was to resign.

Odinga’s running mate accused Kibaki and Raila to have failed in tackling issues of graft and her integrity would not allow her to stay in government.
