The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been called upon by the Grass root, veteran, political, professionals lobby groups to come clear on voter transfer.

The group led by their Kisauni Sub-County Chairman Caleb Ngwena lamented that, IEBC has set up many protocols that make it hard for common Kenyan voters to transfer their votes adding that, many voters had shifted their place of registration for the last four years on various grounds.

The Sub-County Chair also said for the last two years Covid- 19 pandemics triggered a massive migration of Kenyans due to economic crisis, and it is inconceivable for them to go back to the areas where they registered to get letters from the area chief.

He allayed fears that about 40,000 Mombasa County residents will not be able to participate in the August general elections due to the stringent measures on voters transfer.

In the second and final phase of the Enhanced continuous voter registration in preparation for the general election, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) targets the 4.5 million new voters during the 21 days’ exercise.

Meanwhile, Kisauni Sub-County Chair of Persons With Disabilities Sammy Chirchir, called upon the ODM party electoral board to conduct free and fair nominations to enable the electorate to elect their preferred eligible candidates in the August polls.
