Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has launched the Dandora Lands Registry today, aiming to enhance the management of land records and transactions.

During the inauguration ceremony, Sakaja emphasized that the registry would facilitate the issuance of rightful title deeds to landowners, ultimately contributing to increased county revenue. Additionally, he expressed his belief that the registry would address long-standing challenges related to land ownership in the sub-county.

“We have improved the storage capacity and it will now be able to host more than 50,000 files and order restored making it easy to identify files and account for them. These files will be upgraded and migrated to the Valuation Roll, which will thereafter be added to the ratable database for revenue collection, “he said.

Sakaja highlighted the improvements made to the registry’s storage capacity, which can now accommodate over 50,000 files, ensuring efficient file identification and management. Moreover, he outlined plans to upgrade and migrate these files to the Valuation Roll, integrating them into the ratable database for streamlined revenue collection.

The Governor also stressed the county administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for digitizing all of Nairobi’s records. This digitization process would involve the establishment of a comprehensive system for managing title papers, land rent cards, and development plans.

“It will provide an updated and verifiable database eliminating some of the historical land issues such as loss of documentation, duplicity of titles, destruction of records, and missing records. This is intended to provide a lasting solution to issues relating to ownership of land in Nairobi, and we have seen many issues arise.”

By creating an updated and verifiable database, Sakaja aims to resolve historical land issues such as document loss, title duplications, record destruction, and missing records. The ultimate objective of these efforts is to provide a sustainable solution to land ownership disputes in Nairobi, given the numerous issues that have arisen in the past.
