Governor Simba Arati has been sworn into office vowing to hold accountable looters of public resources among other socially ill perpetrators.

At a swearing-in ceremony presided over by Justice Teresiah Matheka, at Gusii stadium the governor regretted that he was inheriting a financially strapped devolved unit with a ballooning wage bill.

He decried the grabbing of public land in the county citing Agricultural Training Centre as one of the most affected institutions amid applause from the crowd.

The grabbers he claimed were endowed individuals who could afford to buy land elsewhere but had resorted to dispossessing the vulnerable and the youth.

Pledging to be consulting widely with his predecessor, James Ongwae on governance issues owing to his wealth of experience, Arati, however, put on notice wanting public servants.

He announced a review soon of the human resource department by the County  Public Service Board to down-size the workforce, weed out workers who accessed employment through cronyism and retain genuine ones.

The governor assured special interest groups including women and the youth of regaining 30%  procurement entitlement snatched from them through graft.

While handing over power to Arati, Ongwae apologized for his inability to deliver what he had pledged in his mandate.

He pleaded with his successor to follow up with Ksh. 150 million from the National Government meant to revamp the Gusii stadium.
