Court Clears Kindiki’s Swearing In As New Deputy President
The High Court has overturned conservatory orders that prevented Professor Kithure Kindiki, the Deputy President Designate, from taking the oath of office.
The three-judge bench presided over by Justice Eric Ogola, Justice Anthony Mrima and Justice Fredah Mugambi cited the need for continuity of the DP office.
Proffessor Kindiki was prohibited from taking office as Deputy President by orders issued by the Kerugoya High Court until a matter ifiled before the court is heard and decided.
David Munyi Mathenge and Peter Gichobi Kamotho sought the orders after the National Assembly approved the nomination of Kindiki as the new Deputy President, a day after the Senate voted to impeach Rigathi Gachagua.
