The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) has pledged to enhance its partnership with devolved governments to improve access to medical services for Persons with Disabilities across the country.

The commitment was made during the launch of the 2025 Devolution Conference in Homabay, where the focus is on strengthening the health sector.

KEMSA officials stated that the authority is actively working to integrate assistive technologies, such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, and eyeglasses, into its main supply chain system. This will enable the real-time tracking and timely delivery of these critical devices to health facilities in all 47 counties.

Speaking at the conference, KEMSA stakeholders vowed to forge a stronger working relationship with county governments to ensure that essential medicines and medical supplies are distributed efficiently to hospitals nationwide. The initiative is part of KEMSA's broader strategy to support the government's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda by ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all Kenyans.

KEMSA is collaborating with county governments, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), and other partners to streamline the procurement and distribution of these specialized medical supplies.
