Gachagua Cuts US Tour Short to Lead DCP in By-Elections

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader and former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, has returned to Kenya, prematurely ending his tour of the United States. Gachagua announced on Thursday via his X account that he is coming back to prepare his party for the upcoming by-elections.
He apologized to his supporters in the diaspora and to the organizers of his tour, explaining that the visit had been rescheduled for early next year.
"I am sorry to cut my trip short; my profound apologies to the organizers and Kenyans whom I was to meet; the same has been rescheduled for early next year," he posted.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has scheduled 16 ward by-elections for November 27, 2025. These elections aim to fill seats that have been vacant for more than two years. Gachagua expressed confidence in his party's growth and thanked supporters for their reception during his time in the U.S. He also mentioned that he will take a few days to rest before his itinerary is made public.
