Fifty Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) nominees have been sworn into office by President William Ruto.

The ceremony took place on Thursday at State House following the official appointment of the 50 nominees on Wednesday.

Constitutionally, the nominees were expected to undergo vetting by the National Assembly. The Speaker of the National Assembly referred back to the president, noting that the August House has no constitutional authority to vet the CAS nominees.

President Ruto went ahead to effectively appoint the nominees to their respective my ministries.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president, Eric Theuri, threatened to go to court to stop the nomination of 50 CAS.

Theuri said the expenditure that comes with the extra CASs should be channeled to fight hunger and to implement development projects.

Among those who took oath of office were Millicent Omanga, Isaac Mwaura, Dennis Itumbi among others. Here is the full list.
