Cabinet Secretary Nominees Vetting Kicks Off

The vetting of 22 cabinet secretary nominees kicked off on Monday morning at the parliament buildings in Nairobi.

With Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi being the first nominee before the committee each nominee has been allocated an hour during the appointment.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee’s position has elicited a discussion from a section of the legislators from the Azimio One Kenya Coalition who claim the position is illegal and has no roles provided for in the Constitution.

The MPs were against vetting ANC leader Mudavadi further faulting the president for creating unlawful positions.

According to President Ruto Mudavadi’s position will be to oversee the government projects and coordinate the national legislative agenda.

Mudavadi will link the Executive and the Legislature where he will be entitled to ensuring that the policies of the Kenya Kwanza Government actualized through legislation.

The next to appear before the committee will be Former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi who was nominated for the position of Attorney General.

Muturi wil be taking over from Justice Paul Kihara Kariuki.

Garissa township MP Aden Duale will take the stand after Former Speaker Muturi.

Duale is set to take over from CS Eugene Wamalwa in overseeing the defense.

2.30 pm is allocated to Former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua CS nominee for the Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.

He will be taking over from Rachelle Omamo.

The committee will close the day with Kandara MP Alice Wahome, who was nominated as the CS for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation replacing Sicily Kariuki.

According to the schedule released by the National Assembly acting clerk Serah Kioko,the exercise that will run until Saturday.
