Azimio La Umoja One Kenya allies are currently being hosted by Kisii Governor Simba Arati on their anti-government protest rally.
The rally led by the opposition leader Raila Odinga had been scheduled for Monday but was postponed to Friday 17 to give room for proper arrangements.
The Kisii County ODM Chairman Kerosi Ondieki said the new development followed protests from Kisii leaders allied to President William Ruto who asked the coalition to call off the rally adding that they were not welcome in Kisii.
Kerosi termed the remarks made by former Kisii Governor James Ongwae and Joash Maangi as laughable, calling for residents to turn up in large numbers to welcome Azimio.
Former Kisii Governor James Ongwae and former Woman Rep Janet Ongera are among political leaders in the region who have decamped to President Ruto’s led Kenya Kwanza.
On Tuesday, during the Kisii County Assembly Prayer Breakfast meeting, Governor Simba Arati said his county will welcome all leaders who wish to visit the region.
“We welcome all leaders to the region. Let us embrace our leaders when they come around. Let them come do their thing and leave us to engage our people for development purposes,” said Mr Arati.
The Azimio leader during his rally at Jacaranda gardens on Sunday, January 29 announced a series of rallies to protest against President William Ruto’s government.
Last week the outfit toured Machakos county, other parts of the country to be toured include Nakuru, Kakamega, Kiambu, Isiolo, Kisii Kisumu, Mombasa, Garissa, and Turkana counties before another mega rally in Nairobi.
