Covid -19 continues to hit the world, bringing it back back to factory settings seeing many

countries’ economies shut down. Although, a sigh of relief as a possible vaccine is worked

on.

Nature is one of the beautiful things one can see and enjoy during this pandemic. What

exactly makes nature beautiful and green? Trees play a big role in beautifying nature. Apart

from beautification, trees play more significant roles.

The importance of trees

Trees clean the air-Trees absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia,

sulphur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their

leaves and bark.

Trees provide oxygen-In one year an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18

people.

Trees save water-Shade from trees slow water evaporation from thirsty lawns. Most newly

planted trees need only fifteen gallons of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase

atmospheric moisture.

Trees help prevent water pollution-Trees reduce runoff by breaking rainfall thus allowing the

water to flow down the trunk and into the earth below the tree. This prevents stormwater

from carrying pollutants to the ocean. When mulched, trees act like a sponge that filters this

water naturally and uses it to recharge groundwater supplies.

Trees help prevent soil erosion-On hillsides or stream slopes, trees slow runoff and hold soil

in place.

Trees heal-Studies have shown that patients with views of trees out their windows heal

faster and with less complications. Children with ADHD show fewer symptoms when they

have access to nature. Exposure to trees and nature aids concentration by reducing mental

fatigue.

Trees provide wood-In suburban and rural areas; trees can be selectively harvested for fuel

and craft wood.

Trees increase property values-The beauty of a well-planted property and its surrounding

street and neighbourhood can raise property values by as much as 15 percent.

Trees provide a canopy and habitat for wildlife-Sycamore and oak are among the many

urban species that provide excellent urban homes for birds, bees, possums and squirrels.

Despite all the things and good meaning of trees, Humankind have been unfair by cutting

tress without replacing them. DEFORESTRATION is the deadliest virus among people

finishing up trees. What is Deforestation? is the permanent removal of trees to make room for

something besides forest.

What is the role of persons with disabilities in environment conservation?

As it is a collective responsibility to maintain and conserve trees and environment, persons

with disabilities play a crucial role.

Planting trees is a physical exercise that involves coordination of body parts. Despite this, in

china a blind and a man without an arm have usefully planted a forest. Jia Wenqi and Jia

Haixia have worked together to plant more than 10,000 trees over the past decade.

It’s a remarkable feat for anyone to plant a small forest in China, but Wenqi has no arms and

Haixia is blind. A new short film from the action camera company GoPro, titled “You’ll be my

arms, I’ll be your eyes,” chronicles the environmental restoration the duo from a small village

in Hebei Province, near Beijing, undertook. They’ve been friends since childhood and refer

to each other as “brothers” as they work as one to restore a landscape scarred by

development.

Wenqi, 54, lost both arms when he was three years old after touching a power line and

Haixia, 55, was injured in a quarry accident in 2000. Both men were living on small welfare

payments and began planting trees a few years after Haixia was blinded as a means to earn

extra income.

The brothers recount in the film how the expansion of quarries polluted streams, killing fish

and shrimp species, and turned their village “into a wasteland.” But while the idea to plant

trees began as a means to an end, Haixia said the project has evolved into a measure to

help restore the natural landscape around a village harmed by pollution.

Since they began in 2002, the brothers have since covered a small island with a miniature

forest, cloned from branches Haixia cuts down himself.

The original plot of land they began planting is now full. They now plan to move on to a 100-

acre area that the village has set aside for another forest. That area presents its own

challenges — including a lack of water supply — but the brothers hope to continue planting

trees and, eventually, cover an entire mountain.

While their physical limitations have made such a project more difficult, the brothers say they

still have a “long way to go.” Once a well can be built to nourish the next generation of

natural air purifiers, they plan to get underway.
