PWD Activist Arrested in Nakuru, Police Criticized for Use of Force

A rights activist with a disability was among several demonstrators apprehended and transferred to Nakuru's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices on Tuesday.
The arrests occurred at a demonstration against Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and top county officials, during which county government security agents were aggressively deployed to prevent protesters from exercising their constitutional right to picket.
In a video circulating online, plain-clothed officers are seen forcefully carrying James Mbugua into a vehicle.
Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi strongly criticized the forceful arrest, noting that peaceful protest is a constitutional right and no Kenyan, especially one with a disability, should be subjected to such excessive force.
The MP further criticized the conduct of the police involved, stating that they are entrusted to protect citizens, not humiliate or harm them.
