Special Needs 2021 KCPE Candidates Shine Among Top
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday, March 28, 2022, released the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.
Bethan Migosi from Thorn Groove Academy emerged top 2021 KCPE special needs candidate with 417, which is a drop from 2020 KCPE where top candidate, Brian Otundo scored 420 marks.
Candidates with special needs have recorded an improvement compared to KCPE 2020. In 2021 a total of 337 candidates with special needs scored between 300-399 while 318 in 2020.
The number of pupils who sat for their exams under special circumstances including those that were in hospitals was 1,067, a decrease from 1,255 in 2020.
Meanwhile, CS Magoha confirmed Sign Language has recorded a comparable performance in the two years (2021 and 2020).
Gilgil Hills Academy’s Magata Bruce Mckenzie was the overall top countrywide in the 2021 KCPE)examination with 428 marks, 7 marks down from the top candidate in the 2020 KCPE examination who scored 433 marks.

“The overall examination performance has improved compared to 2020,” CS Magoha said.
