William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday September 13th, took the oath of office as Kenya’s Fifth Head of State.

Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi administered the Oath of Allegiance of the President at 12:45PM, and thereafter the Oath of Execution of the Office of the President to Dr. Ruto at 12:47 PM.

Ms. Amadi administered the oaths in the presence of Chief Justice Martha Koome and Attorney General Paul Kihara Kariuki, with the First Lady Rachael Ruto also by Ruto’s side.

In the presence of Attorney General Kihara, Dr. Ruto then proceeded to sign the certificates of the oaths of office.

Chief Justice Martha Koome also signed the certificates and presented them to President Ruto.

The new Head of State also received the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart award, highest accolade in the country.

Ruto now faces the uphill task of steering a country gripped by high cost-of-living crisis and a ravaging drought.

His rise to State House has been closely watched by the international community, which looks to Kenya as a reliable and stable democracy in a turbulent region.
