NCPWD Distributes Cryotherapy Equipment to 20 Counties

The National Council for Persons With Disabilities, in partnership with other stakeholders, has launched nationwide distribution of cryotherapy equipment.
The initiative is set to benefit twenty counties and significantly improve access to this vital in-office procedure.
Cryotherapy, also known as cryosurgery, is a vital treatment and preventative measure for skin cancer, a significant health concern, particularly for individuals with albinism.
During cryotherapy, doctors use extremely cold temperatures to freeze and kill damaged tissue. They employ argon gas or liquid nitrogen to induce this intense cold.
Numerous skin disorders as well as certain tumors, such as liver and prostate cancer, can be treated using cryotherapy. Both internal (within the body) and exterior (on the skin) tissue can be treated with this therapy.
Another name for this procedure is cryoablation.
The move by the council underscores the council's commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities live dignified and fulfilling lives.
