Persons With Disabilities In Garissa Receive Business Tools

Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Garissa have a reason to be gracious after the National Fund for the Disabled in Kenya (NFDK) donated equipment to help them in starting and boost their businesses.

The equipment donated include ; tailoring machines, water pumping machines, salon kits, sewing machines, car washing machines and wheelchairs.

While addressing the press, Mike Kiswili, a trustee of the NFDK said that they have issued individual donations as well as ksh.26.7 million in cheques to institutions to support Persons With Disabilities.

“Today we have distributed individual donations to 138 people worth Sh7.7 million. We have also issued Sh26.7 million in cheques to 26 institutions who support persons with disabilities.”

He cautioned the public against discriminating against Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and urged parents who have disabled children to embrace and support them by registering them with the relevant national government institutions.

This in turn will enable them to receive the services and benefits that they have been offered.

Aden Abdille Hassan, the Garissa chairman for the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) said that he will work tirelessly to ensure that all persons with disabilities in the county are registered with the national fund and other relevant organizations.

Additionally, Hassan urged people to help Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and mostly those who are in the regions that have been affected by drought.

He also said that the equipment received from the National Fund for the Disabled in Kenya will be of immense help to the PWDs adding that the funds will ensure that they can work on their own and increase their income.
