NEMA Director: "Send Surplus Food To The Starving"
Kenyans with surplus food have been urged to donate to starving colleagues in severely drought hit regions.
Presiding over a special offering at Nyabioto Two SDA church in Kenyenya sub-county, NEMA Director Samuel Nyangeso observed Gusii region was endowed with excess food while others went hungry.
He lamented over disturbing images on media of parents, children and livestock staring death due to lack of food and water yet those with plenty of it could assist them.
Leaders and the churches were challenged to mobilize relief food and deliver it to the suffering in line with divine commandment.
Nyangeso attributed the ravaging drought to climate change effects as a result of encroachment of wet lands and global warming.
Calling upon Kenyans to heed president William Ruto’s directive on environmental conservation, the director warned that the country risked turning semi-arid with its attendant consequences.
According to him, trees were responsible for attracting rainfall and mitigating the warming of the atmosphere and should be planted and protected.
The director appealed to Kenyans to pray for the president and his cabinet so that they could transform the country economically.
