Dementia is a general term for the impaired ability to remember, think or make decisions that intervenes with day to day activities. It is caused by Alzeheimer’s disease.

Early signs of dementia include:

-Mood changes.

-Loss of memory.

-Trouble on concentration.

-Being confused about time and place.

-Doing everyday activities becomes hard.

-Struggling to find the right words during a conversation.

According to American researchers, online crossword puzzles and games help improve symptoms for people with dementia and slow the growth of mild dementia.

A new study that was put out in the New England Journal of Medicine says that from 33 studies with 2000 associates, reports say that online computer games made for older adults might be an easy fix for people with dementia as one does not have to leave the comforts of their homes and does not require FDA approval nor have side effects.

The reports also showed that the crossword puzzles helped to better functional skills, maintained more brain volume, and improved some verbal eloquence compared to brain training games.

As increasing physical activities and managing blood pressure is important, hence brain training with games and crossword puzzles is effective in preventing dementia.

However at the moment, though the analysts say that the evidence is confident it is also indefinite as they did not find the training any better than other treatments for mild dementia but rather requires more lengthy investigation and analyzing.
