Call for Swift Government Action in Registering School in Embu

Parents and community leaders in Embu Town are urging the government to intervene and expedite the registration of a primary school that was established in the area six years ago.

The Embu Dallas Primary School, funded by the Manyatta Constituency Development Fund (CDF), has remained unregistered since 2017, resulting in low enrollment.

Despite being situated in an urban area with substantial infrastructure investments, the school grounds have become a haven for criminals, drug peddlers, and abusers. The lack of registration has led to a decline in student enrollment, as parents fear their children may not be able to take national exams.

Pauline Njeru, an ECDE teacher at the school, explained that parents are hesitant to keep their children enrolled due to concerns about the school's registration status. This has resulted in parents transferring their children to other schools for primary education after completing pre-primary education.

MCA Ibrahim Swaleh, representing Kirimari Ward, expressed frustration at the significant investment made in the school, which has not translated into educational benefits for the community. He emphasized that registration is a simple step that should have been completed years ago, given the available infrastructure.
