Trump Wins US Presidency
Donald Trump has won the United States presidency for a second term, nearly four years after leaving office. Trump earned a victory in Wisconsin, completing the 270 electoral votes required to win the race
According to projections, Michigan becomes the latest battleground state to be won by Trump. He also captured the swing states of Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
On Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent, called Trump to congratulate him and surrender the contest.
The White House said that Biden formally began the transition ahead of Inauguration Day by calling Trump a little while later to congratulate him and extend an invitation for the president-elect to visit the White House. Biden also gave Harris a call.
A number of world leaders have congratulated Trump, President William Ruto included. “Your victory is a testament to the firm resolve of the American people to repose confidence in your visionary, bold, and innovative leadership,” Ruto said in a statement.
The Republican Party also reclaimed control of the Senate.
