President Ruto Defends Foreign Trips
President William Ruto has defended his numerous foreign trips since taking office. Speaking at a church service in Uasin Gishu on Sunday, he said the trips have helped him secure several deals in Kenya's favor.
“They are people on my case as to why I am making foreign trips. That’s my mandate as the President. I am the chief agent of Kenya and ambassador who will plan on how the country will move forward,” said Ruto.
While citing his most recent trip to Saudi Arabia, the Head of state said it resulted in 350,000 employment opportunities for Kenyans, with the bilateral agreement expected to be signed in the next three weeks.
“Last week I was in Saudi Arabia and they said Kenyan people are hardworking, so let's plan ourselves. We are expecting to sign a bilateral agreement with them in another three weeks,” Ruto stated.
According to President Ruto, he is Kenya’s chief agent and ambassador and that is what he was elected to do.
President Ruto said he will continue to make foreign trips if they lead to investment in Kenya. He said his recent visit to China resulted in significant investment in the country, and that Kenya is on a positive trajectory.
The Head of State Ruto has reportedly visited 45 cities in 38 countries in 83 days.
