NCPWD Urge Parents to Love and Take Care of Children Born With Disability

The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has intensified efforts to tackle challenges affecting children with disabilities in Kilifi County. Stigmatization, negative perceptions, and a shortage of trained teachers were cited as major barriers to inclusive education in the region.
Speaking during a community forum, NCPWD board chair Dr. Christina Kenyatta urged society to embrace children with disabilities and support their growth through love and acceptance. She emphasized that inclusion starts with changing attitudes at the grassroots level.
Dr. Kenyatta also appealed to parents to enroll children with disabilities in school, noting that education is key to empowering them to be self-reliant in the future. She warned against neglect, saying it only deepens the cycle of dependency and exclusion.
