National Youth Service (NYS) has taken a historic step towards inclusivity by welcoming applications from persons with disabilities and orphans in its upcoming February 5-9 recruitment exercise.

This marks a significant shift, as previously, NYS opportunities were not accessible to individuals with disabilities.

In a notice to the public, NYS encouraged individuals with disabilities to participate, emphasizing their valuable contributions to the Service.

“Persons with disability are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their sub-counties and centers provided they can withstand the rigorous physical training,” the notice read.

Further in the notice, NYS said it will prioritize orphaned youths upon availing supporting details indicating their status.

Applicants must have attained a mean grade of D and above in their KCSE examinations.

Participation is open to Kenyan citizens aged 18-24 years.
