The National Council for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) held a thorough career counseling and mentoring session for students with disabilities at the University of Eldoret on Monday.
This program is part of the Council's Tunza Career Guidance and Mentorship Program for Students with Disabilities, which was started in January of last year.
This program seeks to provide students with disabilities a sense of accomplishment, purpose, and confidence so they can continue to receive help throughout their academic careers.

The importance of the program is in its ability to supplement the educational support that these students now receive through scholarships.

The program gives students concrete examples of what can be accomplished by matching them with accomplished role models who have disabilities and have excelled in spite of obstacles.

This method gives students motivation and useful advice, enabling them to successfully negotiate their academic and career routes.
In order to broaden the impact of this initiative, the Council has committed to holding similar empowering sessions with kids with disabilities in Kenyan schools.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Thomas Kimeli Cheruiyot, the CEO of the Acting Council, Eva W. Njoroge, and mentors from a variety of professional backgrounds graced the occasion, which took place at the University of Eldoret. Their involvement emphasized the program's significance and showed that they were dedicated to helping students achieve their goals.
