NCPWD Partners With KEMSA To Improve Essential Healthcare For PWDs
The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) on Tuesday signed a service contract with the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
According to NCPWD, this collaboration will greatly improve people with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities' access to necessary medications and incontinence management supplies.
Speaking during the signing of the partnership, NCPWD CEO Harun Hassan said the move is part of the council’s efforts to ensure services reach persons with disabilities at the grassroots, which marks a significant step towards achieving the council’s goal of inclusive healthcare for all.
KEMSA CEO Dr. Dulacha Ejersa Waqo affirmed the agency's capacity to procure, store, and distribute Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) for authorized public health programs. He assured that KEMSA's institutional capabilities and expertise would ensure timely delivery to intended recipients.
The signing ceremony also saw the attendance of Dr. Sylvia Mochabo Akinsiku, a member of the NCPWD Board of Directors. She commended the partnership between the two organizations, highlighting its focus on inclusivity, particularly for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
