Moses Kuria's Major Move
Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominee Moses Kuria's Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) will now be joining William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking at a funeral in Elgeyo Marakwet, the law maker revealed that he had already notified the office of the registrar of political parties (ORPP) to dissolve his party within 21 days.
"Up to yesterday I was the chair of a party called Chama cha Kazi, I dissolved it and went through the registrar and joined UDA.
Kuria being a die-hard supporter of President Ruto, his party joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in March 2022 in a bid to support his (Ruto) presidential bid.
Following the move by the legislator, the registrar of political parties is expected to gazette the dissolution within seven days.
The gazette should indicate that the party has been dissolved and its members are now under the UDA party.
Chama Cha Kazi's particulars such as names, symbols, logos, slogans, colors, and all other things associated with the party will be removed from the register.
Further, according to the political parties Act, all records, assets, party funds, liabilities, obligations, and rights will be transferred to Ruto's led party.
At the same time, Kuria asked the Elgeyo Marakwet residents to vote for a candidate from the UDA party in the coming by-elections which seeks to replace Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was appointed to serve as CS for Roads, Transport, and Public works.
Meanwhile, Senator Murkomen affirmed that he is willing to lend a hand to any candidate who would succeed him.
"Whoever will be vying just ask for my vote and then I shall vet, but the ultimate decision on who will be your next senator is from the people," he stated.
