Messi to leave PSG Club

PSG striker Lionel Messi is set to leave the Club at the end of the season, with the Ligue 1 club not planning to renew the Argentines contract.

The rift has allegedly been brought about by Messi’s personal promotion trip to Saudi Arabia without the clubs permission, a stunt that led to him being suspended for two games and fined two weeks wages by the Club.

Messi will now miss the Ligue 1 matches against Troyes and Ajaccio, but could return for the match against Auxerre on May 21.

Lionel Messi joined PSG in the summer of 2021 on a two-year deal after leaving Barcelona due to their financial issues at the Club.

The forward who helped the team secure the 2022 Ligue 1 title has played 71 times for the French side, scoring 31 goals, recording 34 assists.

The forward and the team have not been performing to standards and with the club’s new strategy of focusing on young French players instead of signing superstar talents, it might be the right call.

Barcelona would be keen on securing a dream return for the Argentine to the Nou Camp but, with the La Liga leaders facing severe financial difficulties, a move back looks increasingly unlikely.
