NARC Kenya party’s member and aspirant Benson Thuranira Kathiai 28 years old is accused of fraudulently obtaining Ksh.415,000 from different M-Pesa agents in Nakuru, Shauri Moyo, Busia and Meru on separate occasions.
Benson who is an aspiring Member of County Assembly eyeing Meru County’s Muthara Ward seat has been arrested held in police custody in relation to a string of fraud-related robbery cases reported across the country.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Benson could be the mastermind of the notorious ‘Confirm’ gang in Nakuru County.
Benson is accused of fraud in Busia, Meru, Shauri Moyo and Nakuru stealing Kshs 120,000, Kshs 60, 000, Kshs 135, 000 and Ksh 100, 000 respectively; stealing to a total of Kshs 415,000.
Benson will remain in police custody until May 30, 2022 when he is expected to be arraigned at the Nakuru Law Courts and charged with fraud.
