The police have apprehended a man believed to be the rider of the boda boda used in the murder of Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were. Identified as Amos Barasa, he was found in Kibera in possession of the same motorcycle.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that Barasa's arrest followed detailed forensic analysis that linked him to the primary suspects and placed him at the scene of the crime on the day of the murder.

According to the DCI report, Barasa operated the Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number KMFZ 413W, which the attackers used to follow the MP's car and subsequently as their getaway vehicle after the attack. The police confirmed that the recovered motorcycle was used in the crime.

Further investigation revealed Barasa's history as a repeat offender who often posed as a boda boda driver while working with armed criminal groups.

During questioning, Barasa admitted his involvement, stating that he was hired by the main perpetrators and paid Sh50,000 for his role.

The recovered motorcycle also matches the description of a boda boda seen on CCTV footage near Parliament, trailing the late MP's vehicle.

Police records indicate Barasa has a significant criminal history, including time spent at Industrial Area Prison, where he reportedly met some of the other individuals involved in the MP's murder.

Barasa is currently being processed for his court appearance as the investigation continues, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to achieving justice in this case.
