Former Interior ministry cabinet secretary (CS) Fred Matiangi’s grilling by the DCI sparked off peaceful protests in Kisii town’s streets with residents demanding a stop to his harassment.

The protestors claimed the former CS had served the nation with dedication and should not be vilified.

They further claimed  Matiangi commanded respect regionally and in the country, was still the spokesperson for the local community, and had not committed serious crimes to warrant the current mistreatment from the government.

According to the protestors, president William Ruto should accord the former CS maximum security since his life was in danger warning, the government will be held accountable should anything awry happen to him.

Bomorenda MCA  John Ombati claimed the former CS  was innocent unlike some leaders in the government who had been indicted but were released.

Kisii county assembly deputy speaker, Jacob Barongo called for Matiangi’s freedom from current persecution and to be brought before the Kisii DCIO if he had committed any crime.
