The Kenya National Paralympic Committee (KNPC)has picked a 13-member strong team for the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships set for May 17-25 in Kobe, Japan.

These athletes will be competing for glory and a chance to qualify for the upcoming Paris Paralympics.

The squad comprises nine men and four women, including seasoned campaigner Samuel Muchai. Muchai, who lost sight at a young age, has an impressive track record with two Paralympic gold medals (1,500m T11) and a silver. He'll aim to add to his collection in the 5,000m T11 race at Kobe.

Joining Muchai are other notable athletes like Eric Sang who is visually impaired, and also serves as the Paralympic athletes' representative, and Wilson Bii.

Bii, a two-time Paralympian, will be looking to secure his Paris spot through the high-performance ranking system after narrowly missing a finish in the 2012 London Paralympics 5,000m T11 and claiming bronze in Rio four years later.

Kenya has already seen seven para athletes qualify for the Paris Paralympics across four disciplines: athletics, cycling, taekwondo, and rowing.
