Nairobi is preparing for a race where the finish line is just the beginning of a much larger conversation about accessibility and innovation. On March 1st, 2026, the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata will host a historic collision of human grit and high-tech advancement. Coinciding with the International Day of Wheelchair, the UK–Kenya Tech Hub is proud to present the Inclusive TechRun: Para & Disability Edition. This is a bold, high-energy evolution of the TechRun series designed to prove that when you combine Kenya’s world-renowned athletic excellence with cutting-edge assistive technology, barriers don’t just break-they disappear entirely.

The UK–Kenya Tech Hub has successfully delivered two previous editions of this unique platform, demonstrating the powerful intersection between sport, innovation, and economic opportunity. Kenya’s dominance on the global stage is undeniable, from the historic 5,000m podium sweep at the Tokyo Deaflympics to the legendary legacy of Henry Wanyoike, the nation’s first visually impaired Paralympic gold medalist. The Inclusive TechRun 2026 serves as a natural evolution of this success, following the participation of Wanyoike in previous editions, where the UK–Kenya Tech Hub recognized a strategic opportunity to create a dedicated space where sporting excellence meets adaptive innovation. This year, the spotlight belongs firmly to the athletes and the technology that empowers them to reach new heights.

The event features a high-octane program designed to keep spectators on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The morning kicks off with high-speed wheelchair sprints that highlight precision and power, followed by deaf community races featuring specialized visual start cues and full sign-language support. One of the most anticipated segments is the visually impaired guided run, which showcases the incredible synchronicity between an athlete and their guide. These competitive heats are complemented by short-stature adaptive races, ensuring that every athlete has a platform to demonstrate their skill and determination.

Beyond the track, the energy continues with an Assistive Technology Showcase featuring ten world-class innovators. This curated exhibition allows attendees to engage with the latest in adaptive sports equipment, mobility solutions, and accessible digital tools from partners like Google, Safaricom Foundation, and AT4D

The United Kingdom has long been a global pioneer in disability inclusion, a legacy cemented by the London 2012 Paralympic Games and continued through the support of Africa’s first Assistive Technology Accelerator-the presence of the Deputy British High Commissioner,Dr. Ed Barnett, as the Guest of Honor at this year's TechRun, reinforces the diplomatic weight of this partnership. It is a powerful demonstration of how UK–Kenya collaboration can unlock investment, promote inclusive entrepreneurship, and create a roadmap for a more accessible world for everyone.

Whether you are a tech enthusiast, a sports fan, or a dedicated advocate for accessibility, the Inclusive TechRun is your front-row seat to the future of human potential. We invite you to witness the speed, engage with the innovators, and celebrate the athletes who are redefining what is possible in the modern age.
