Kenya women’s team fell out of the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Final after losing their two games in Constanta, Romania.

Team Kenya was placed in Pool ‘D’ and lost to 22-5 to Lithuania in their opener and 17-6 to Japan in their last game of the tournament.

Center player Medina Okot scored four points while Jacqueline Kogo managed to put one when they played against Japan.

Coach Tony Ochieng praised his team, saying despite their lack of experience, they did well and learnt a lot of valuable lessons from the outing.

According to Coach Ochieng, the tournament is very competitive with size and skill development, important for overall success.

“The players did well and I am proud of them. This is our first time playing in a World Cup and Inexperience was our undoing,” he offered. He said the two sides Kenya faced in the global show were ranked well above them. Lithuania third and Japan eighth.

“Lithuania are ranked third in the world in all categories from junior to senior levels while Japan are a very technical team,” he noted.

“We gave our best and it was a good experience considering we were featuring in the tourney for the first time as compared to other teams that are regulars,” he added.

Kenya, Rwanda (men) and Egypt (men and women) represented Africa in the three-day 24-team event that ends today, with the Kenyan team returning home on Sunday.
