Ida Odinga's Bodyguard Shot Dead In Kisumu
Police in Kisumu county have launched investigations into the death of a bodyguard to Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga's wife, Ida Odinga, who was shot dead on Thursday night in Kisumu county.
Barrack Otieno Oduor was heading home in the company of his two friends a male and a female after a night out at an entertainment joint in town when they were attacked.
According to Nyanza Regional Police boss, Karanja Muiruri who confirmed the incident, the suspect managed to shoot officer Barrack in the head twice and once in the leg.
At the same time, his friends sustained injuries from the incident and were rushed to a Kisumu hospital where they are undergoing medication.
The officer's body has since been moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
According to the latest police reports filed at the Obunga Police Station, the suspect is the manager of a popular nightclub in Kisumu County and is currently on the run to an unknown destination.
The report further confirmed that the suspect is in possession of the late Oduor’s firearm which he took during the altercation and used to commit the offense.
The former premier's spouse was not in Kisumu during the incident.
