The High Court has ordered top security officials, including Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Kiambu DCI officers, and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), to produce missing Kiamaiko businessman Abdiaziz “Zizo” Molu either alive or dead, or formally explain his whereabouts.

The directive follows a habeas corpus application filed by Molu’s family, who are seeking urgent court intervention after his disappearance under disputed circumstances in Kiamaiko, Nairobi.

According to court filings, the family alleges that Molu was last seen shortly before his suspected abduction by individuals believed to be police officers. They claim he has not been traced since, despite reporting the matter to multiple police stations and hospitals.

The petition places responsibility on the Office of the Inspector General, Kiambu Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the DPP to clarify whether Molu is in lawful custody or under investigation, or to account for his disappearance.

The family told the court they had conducted independent searches across detention facilities and medical institutions without success, raising fears of enforced disappearance.

The High Court noted that such cases require immediate accountability from state agencies, especially where allegations of possible police involvement have been raised.

Human rights concerns have also emerged, with activists calling for transparency and swift action to determine whether Molu was unlawfully detained or abducted.

Court documents indicate that the application seeks disclosure of detention records, arrest logs, and operational details from officers linked to Kiambu DCI operations.

The court emphasized that habeas corpus proceedings are designed to prevent unlawful detention and compel authorities to justify any deprivation of liberty.

At the time of filing, police had not issued a public confirmation that Molu was in custody, further deepening uncertainty over his whereabouts.

The respondents have been directed to file formal responses outlining Molu’s status or producing him before the court for verification.
