Three more victims have succumbed to their injuries following the Embakasi fire tragedy, bringing the total death toll to six. Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura provided an update on the ongoing situation, highlighting the ongoing medical care for the injured.

According to Mwaura, eight of the 27 admitted patients have been discharged, while 19 remain under care. These include 10 males, six females, and three minors.

27 individuals at the Kenyatta National Hospital have been discharged, but six remain in critical condition due to severe burns. Another 34 receive care in various wards undergoing wound care, dressing, pain control, and consultations with physiotherapists for rehabilitation. Skin grafts are set for today.

Meanwhile, detectives from the Nairobi County police headquarters are pursuing seven suspects concerning the incident.

The suspects include; Derick Kimathi, the proprietor of the illegal gas filling plant; Steve Kioko, Kimathi’s partner; the driver of the truck that is suspected to have caused the explosion whom they are yet to confirm whether he escaped or was among the casualties; and four NEMA officials who were suspended for allegedly issuing a license illegally to Kimathi’s company.
