CS Machogu Releases 2023 KCSE Results: 1,216 Score A, 48,174 Score E

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results on Monday.

According to the CS, 1,216 KCSE candidates have scored a mean grade of A, 825 are males while 391  are females which constitutes 0.14 percent.

In school-level distributions, CS Machogu said that 899 candidates were from National schools followed by extra-county schools with 172, private schools with 143, 5 from County schools, and 7 from Sub-County schools.

Further, the CS announced that a total of 201,133 candidates scored a mean grade of C plus and above, earning themselves places in universities.

A total of 494,317 candidates scored a mean grade of D+ and below which constitutes 54.72 percent. Of this, 125,006 candidates scored a mean grade of D+, while 155, 276 managed grade D plain and 165, 861 candidates scored D-. 

Speaking at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret on Monday, CS Machogu said  48,174 candidates scored an E, which he called for a probe within one month to ascertain the cause.

At least a total of 4,113 candidates were reported to have been involved in exam irregularities. Of these four candidates have had their results cancelled following impersonation reports.

903, 260 candidates sat for the papers which began on October 23, 2023, and ended on November 2023.
