Kestrel Manor School Graduation: Integration through Education
Kestrel Manor School, a centre of learning catering for students with special needs on Wednesday held their first graduation of Year 6-7 and Year 11 students.
The Institute that boasts British National Curriculum and Vocational Rehabilitation to Children with disabilities, helps learners develop into self-reliant and independent undividuals.
Students with special needs i.e Dyslexia, Down syndrome, Autism spectrum disorders, Cerebral Palsy among others, are equipped with different skills through vocational training that will be of value after completing their training which includes transitional services to the next level of education or to the job market.
The School Principal Miss Robai outlined the importance of integration in the school system as it helps in nurturing skills that in turn harness talent development.
In attendance was Board of Director National Council for Persons with Disabilities Dr. Sylvia Mochabo, who reiterated the importance of putting up the right structures in schools that include proper equitable accommodation so as to allow wholesome development of the learners.
The founder AndySpeaks for Special needs persons Africa further urged the Ministry of Education to derive policies that will recognise special learners and provide a conducive learning environment for the students to transit and be the best version of themselves through embracing their talent.
Parents were urged to have early intervention in the lives of their Kins and take up responsibility by giving opportunity to their children with special needs to be who they are because this will help in the wholesome development of the child.
