County Leaders Emphasize Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
Over 300 youths in Kiambu gathered to observe International Youth Day on August 12. The event, held at Kiambu County Headquarters, focused on employment solutions and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people.
The 2023 edition of International Youth Day centers on green skills for youth, discussing global and national initiatives, challenges, and policy guidance.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi praised the youth for their contributions to nation-building and showcasing their talents. He commended the Chief Executive Member (CEC) of Sports and Youth Affairs, Ali Osman, for engaging young people in various activities.
Governor Wamatangi assured his support for transforming Kiambu's sports and youth sectors, highlighting concrete plans such as building stadiums and an Amphitheatre. He also pledged to open ICT stations in each ward to equip youths with digital skills.
Addressing substance abuse, the Governor promised to establish more rehabilitation centers. He proposed regular dialogues with youth and emphasized the county's growth plans.
Deputy Governor Rosemary Kirika urged youths to actively shape their future and participate in problem-solving. She emphasized self-employment and entrepreneurship as pathways to economic empowerment.
